Your credit union has a new name and a new look, presenting: Thistle Credit Union. This means increasing the common bond area beyond the borders of Lanarkshire and reaching out further across the West of Scotland region. By extending out, Thistle Credit Union hopes to improve its capital position and financially assist more people affected by the pandemic.
For you, this change brings further new and exciting opportunities - widening our pool of members will allow us to look at extending our products and services in the future.

A huge thank you to our team, who have worked extremely hard over the past year to ensure we maintain the highest level of service to our members”, says CEO, Aaron Kerr. “It’s a testament to the whole team and our members, that we now have the facility to expand and offer more people across Scotland an ethical alternative to lending”.
This isn’t the first change for this credit union. They started as Blantyre Credit Union back in 1991, before evolving to accommodate the rest of the Lanarkshire region. Amongst these changes, what has stayed consistent is their community values of:

- providing ethical financial assistance
- supporting the community
Thistle Credit Union will continue to serve the local area, as well as on boarding new members to join our growing Thistle Credit Union community.
On Sunday 22nd August, Aaron and his team will be taking part in a 10K “Roon the Toon” to raise money for a local charity, Carstairs Junction, who provide support to the community with food parcels, housing, and other essential services.
